  1. Sherry was very dedicated to her neighborhood children, park and community. She often expressed her dedication to her work team who are scattered around the country. We will miss her loyal, enthusiastic spirit. Thank you for sharing Sherry with us.
See you again some day Sherry!!

  2. I remember the first day Sherry and I met to discuss her employment with HDR. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had lunch in Kansas City. As demonstrated her entire career with us and I'm sure her entire life, she was full of excitement and passion. Anything Sherry touched (work, people, projects) she did so with passion and an infectious enthusiastic attitude. She was a friend, mentor, educator and all around wonderful person. Thank you Sherry for making all of us better.

  3. Passionate and kind. Those 2 words resonate with me when I think of Sherry. I have worked with Sherry since her very first day at HDR. She became much more than just a co-worker, she was a great friend. I find myself looking at fairy gardens online and thinking "Sherry would love this". I think that I will start a new fairy garden in an old red wagon in my yard. Then I can think of Sherry whenever I look at it.

  4. Last weekend, when talking to a friend, I was describing what the loss of Sherry means to me and why she was so especially different. She was authentic and full of joy. She was doing what she wanted to do and who she wanted to do it with. Many of us spend years, or are still searching for what we want or need. She had that figured out and keeps inspiring me to live "in the now," to love what I do, and to not ever give up. Because life is good and mine is better because she was in it. I'll always look for Sherry when I am spending time outside because I know she is there, doing what she loves.

  5. Sherry has been by partner and my sister for the past 10 years. We have traveled up and down the East Coast for pursuits in Alabama, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee and the Carolinas. At each step, the team would feel her dedication, creativity, style and passion for doing the right thing. It is hard to say goodbye, though I know she will be toasting each of us – Dirty Martini in hand – celebrating every win and mourning every loss. Until we meet again, my Beauty.

  6. Good grief, a typo in the first sentence -- You definitely wouldn't have allowed that nonsense to happen. Miss you already.

  7. I had the pleasure to work with Sherry for many years, on more projects than I can remember. Sherry was a joy to work with even on some of the longest (and sometime frustrating) assignments. But more than colleagues, we became great friends. My last trip to Kansas city to see her last fall will always stay in my memory. She delighted in showing us around "her" city. Hearing "Zappa plays Zappa" with her in Toronto is just another great memory. I've known few people as passionate for life as Sherry and I will miss her always.

  9. Sherry was so generous. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years, and I know she was always there for me. I remember visiting with her in the Kansas City office about a stressful project. She was very supportive; and I remember watching several people stop to chat with her that day. She had their respect because she was a talented worker, but also because of her commitment to the office and community. I will remember that day and the qualities that made Sherry so special.

Thank you, Sherry, for inspiring us to continue to push the boundaries in design & make a difference in our communities as well as striving to be the best versions of ourselves too. I will always smile when I see a fairly garden and think of you!

  13. Sherry and I ate lunch together while working every single day for the past 8 years except when one or both of us was on business travel. I loved her as a colleague and a close friend. I became intimate with her and Dale's passion of their neighborhood community. Her efforts to bring betterment to their community and the neighborhood Park was infectious. Seeing the children at the annual neighborhood BBQ at the park receive their school backpacks brought the vision of what is right and good. Sherry loved humanity (seeing the best in everyone) and plants/gardening. I would describe my dear friend as a free spirit and incredibly creative! I admired her and loved her very much. I believe that anyone in her path, was blessed. She loved her husband, Dale, with every heart beat and they were, I believe, soul mates. Her smile was beautiful and made you feel special. She had the most enduring qualities that we all could only hope to be. I know that my life was enriched having her in my life and so honored to have such a wonderful and inspiring friend. I am going to miss her so much. But she has touched our lives in a way that will go on forever.
